Statement
I loved painting from an early age, initially being trained by my artist Grandpa. I took a different career path studying geography at university, but always wanted to get back to art. Three years ago, I took up oil paining, attending a weekly class and then recently returned to college to study art. I specialise mainly in oils but also work in watercolour, pastel, charcoal and lino print. I am inspired by the buildings of Glasgow, both Victorian and Mid Century, and particularly like capturing residential city life at night. I am also inspired by the beauty of the coastal town of Millport on the Islan of Cumbrae and love to capture the beautiful seascapes Ayrshire has to offer. As my style develops, I am increasingly interested in the play of light on scenes and vibrant contrasts of colour. I also enjoy juxtaposing nature against the built environment.
