Millport Skies

I love the drama of a West Coast sky and wanted to capture this stunning sunset looking out from Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae. I love to contrast colour in my work and really push the brightness and vibrancy to create atmosphere. I wanted to take a more abstract approach to this painting than my usual realist style and to contrast the huge fluffy clouds in the sky with the silky water below. I chose oils as my preferred medium because of the depth of colour that can be achieved.
