Statement
My visual art practice experiments with concepts of composition, aesthetic formalism and chance. Through my work in photography, collage and moving image, I look to represent scenes which seem to contain a certain uncanny, magic-realism quality.
I began sharing my first works publicly in 2024; ’Held Up To Light’, an ongoing 30-year photo-collage series. This extensive archive of photographs pays tribute to the printed page, the transformational nature of light and the thrill of chance encounters. Through the act of exposing book pages to a source of light, new composite-collages emerge, formed by the fusion of images on both sides of the paper. These momentary, serendipitous illusions are then captured photographically as high-resolution digital images and printed on archival-quality paper to create fine art prints in various dimensions and formats.
