BELTANE FIRE
Beltane is one of the eight Pagan Sabbats. It falls halfway between the spring equinox ; Ostara and the coming summer solstice; Litha. Fire is central to Beltane celebrations with the belief that it has protective powers. It was believed that rituals of circling or even leaping over bonfires would bring good fortune, fertility and happiness. Beltane celebrates the stirrings of the fire of creation - the burst of spring and new life bursting forth.
