Statement

Recently, I have been investigating a print-led enquiry which explores the intersection of appropriation, automatism and material process through cyanotype. Working with light-sensitive materials allows a sense of chance and unpredictability to emerge. My current engagement with the emotional weight of domestic relics, belonging to my parents, enables me to create sets of sun-exposed imprints. Exploring ideas of inherited identity, I seek to bring new meaning to these appropriated objects, whilst upholding the existing memories of my parents' collections. My work represents quiet imprints of the past and creates an opportunity to recontextualise select objects that particularly resonate with those from similar generations.
