Geist of Girl
A digital collage that explores the tummy ache of girlhood dreams. Drawing from surrealist themes of dreamscapes, the hypnotic effect of cotton-candy hues and bold colours are microwaved to create the Geist of Girl. The nausea of a bad dream or uninvited thought takes shape in the beetle that centres the image, its presence within the pink neuters traditionally cute and innocent elements to femininity encouraging a reframing of girl.
