This is a love story

Sewn and quilted by hand, this small quilt explores how love stories are made of everyday moments. The hand-embroidered phrase 'this is a love story' acts as both a declaration and a reminder of my life with my wife. Four hand-appliquéd fabric circles represent distinct memories – a shirt worn on an early date, a child’s holiday t-shirt, fabric bought while on an overnight trip, a purchase in the January sales. The stitched outlines of our touching hands evoke the quiet connections found in simple, grounding gestures. The quilt’s fabrics and stitches reflect how the greatest romance is often found in the soft, familiar rhythms of daily life.
