Cuiridh mi clach air do chàrn | I'll put a stone on your cairn

Sewn entirely by hand, this small quilt is inspired by the Gaelic blessing 'Cuiridh mi clach air do chàrn' – “I'll put a stone on your cairn”. On an off-white landscape of reclaimed cotton, a cairn of sofa fabric samples sits quietly. The cairn is both a memorial and a waymarker. Two hands, stitched in metallic silver thread, reach down and up: are they placing stones on the cairn or reaching for each other? Together, the cairn and hands are reminders of traditions and rituals of love, remembrance, care and marking the way for future travellers.
