Bee 2
‘Bee’ 1 & 2 are about what I see with my naked eye and how I can convey this on paper as heavy and durable as possible to allow depth the depth I am looking to create. ‘Bee’ 1 is painted, a first for myself. It explores line in paint to recreate texture and achieve the feeling of movement through paint as I do with graphite.
I’ve always used Graphite pencil to recreate what I see in front or around me. It’s always been about using a line, a ‘style’, my style. I use it to recreate what I’m seeing in as much detail as I can. My practice is about exploring texture within line, in mono chrome and now in painting, creating the feel and texture of the fine hairs and skin we see on animals, insects and in my every day surrounds.
Ive becoming adept at creating surfaces which are almost alive, that suggest texture movement that pleases the senses and makes you want to touch the image in front of you but if you did it would change the perceptions we see or feel.
