Homeward Bound
This is The Fying Scotsman leaving London Victoria for Morar back in the day. The entire drawing was done using a 12B pencil and some cotton wool to create a sfumato effect. I am very much intrigued by the use of sfumato by the likes of Da Vinci and others of their time, and have produced quite a few images to date using charcoal as they would have done. The advances in graphic pencils now allows me to create a similar effect without charcoal dust and i was especially impressed by the black the could be gotten with a pencil.
