This small oil painting was completed ‘en plein air’ over two days in the famous Fife town of St Andrews. The Lade Braes walk follows the course of a river through town and past the botanic gardens. The area shown in this painting is a sports ground where schoolchildren play football and rugby. Although the subject is sunny, I was painting in the shade and was shivering at the end of each session!
