Unknown Woman
This paintings is from an old Victorian photo I found at a vintage fair taken by Stirling photographers Crowe and Rodgers sometime in the 1900's. I was immediately fascinated by who this young woman was and sad that her photo is no longer part of a family collection in aloft somewhere. I wanted to paint her as a way of reinstating her place in the order of things. I hope people look at her painting and wonder who she is and in that moment of wonder, she becomes once again present and seen.
