Abstract Sculpture
Paul’s abstract sculpture is a culmination of various creative techniques and skills he has developed over time. The piece began as flat panels, each carefully decorated with collage elements, beads, paint, and ornamental details. Paul then thoughtfully assembled these panels into a sculptural form of his own design, allowing his creativity and personal vision to guide the process.

The project’s primary goal was to explore abstract art-making and support Paul in building confidence around making creative decisions. Historically, decision-making in his art practice was an area where Paul felt hesitant and unsure. This sculpture marks an important milestone in his artistic journey, demonstrating both technical growth and a newfound self-assurance in directing his work.

Paul’s use of diverse materials—including recycled components, wire, foam, mosaic tiles, and mixed media—reflects his enthusiasm for combining textures and forms. His methodical and focused approach allowed him to engage deeply with each stage of the process. Importantly, this work represents a shift from creating art in response to external subjects toward a more intuitive response to the materials themselves—letting colour, texture, shape, and form shape the outcome.

Through this sculpture, Paul not only celebrates his evolving artistic skills but also affirms the value of experimentation, perseverance, and personal expression in his creative practice.
