This painting is based on a 3D computer model of an intricate lattice based on a doubly curved tetrahedral form. Views through the lattice are overlaid on one another to create a complex pattern representative of the matter and energy that fill the universe. The pattern is also reminiscent of older forms of art, and in particular Islamic designs, and the unusual use of gold paint gives the composition the feel of an ornate carved wooden screen.
