The other self
“The Other Self” explores the psychological tension between self-perception and the parts of us we reject or fear.
A woman faces a wild, almost monstrous duck-like creature, perhaps a distortion, or maybe a mirror. Their posture, nearly an embrace, speaks of confrontation and recognition.
This digital work was created by blending photographic textures and painterly elements in Photoshop. I used drawing and digital brushwork to build an image that feels both tender and unsettling.
Inspired by the idea that the "other" is often a projection of the self, the piece questions identity as something fragmented and mutable. It invites the viewer to witness a moment of intimacy with the unfamiliar, and to consider what happens when we face the part of us we’ve tried to exile.
