This landscape painting was the final outcome of one of my 3rd year BA Contemporary Art Practice "Process and Inquiry" module, where I made a series of landscape paintings that depicted places I often walk thought as part of my long commute to City of Glasgow college from Paisley. This painting depicts Lounsdale Road, looking in the direction of Foxbar, with the "Lord Lounsdale" pub on the left, waiting for the 61 bus to come from that direction to take me into paisley High Street where I walk to Gilmour Street station.
Painted in a bold colour saturated version of the original landscape photo, this colour saturation was inspired by the landscape painting of the American landscape artist Michael Spence, who paints colourful landscapes of rural settings. I enjoy using Fluorescent yellow in my paintings. To create a focal point in the composition I added a sunset as a creative liberty inspired by the artist Kim Bohie, who's paintings I saw during the 2024 Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art.
