Jane Burden - (Mother and Child Series)
This is a representation of the Mother, Muse and Model Jane Morris (née Burden). Married to one of the founders of the Arts & Crafts movement, William Morris. She was the inspiration for many of Dante Gabriel Rossetti's paintings and drawings, one of which was the inspiration for this painting on glass. Stained glass was a popular medium for designers of the Arts & crafts movement and it is sad to think that as of 2023 the manufacture of stained glass windows has now entered the UK red list of critically endangered crafts.
