Untitled. (HND Graded Unit Final Outcome 1/2.
This painting was the first final outcome for my HND Graded Unit I did in 2024. It is the culmination of a investigation I was doing into contemporary Minimalist and Conceptual art by artists such as the American Conceptual, Post-Minimalist painter and sculptor Sean Scully.
Sean Scully paints large-scale geometric minimalist paintings that sometimes comprise multiple canvas used to make one large composition, using bright, complementary and contrasting colours. This painting explore the use of colours as the subject of a painting, rather than being used to depict an object or person.
The colours used are the colours featured in the branding of alcohol brands I like.
This painting is paired with the "Blurred Vision" painting of the same size that also makes use of two combined canvas boards, these were made and displayed together as the Final Outcomes for two different techniques I was working on concurrently for the Graded Unit of my HND college course that ended in 2024.
