Summer's Last Song

Summer's Last Song, Painting
Summer's Last Song
For "Summer's Last Song" I wanted to capture the turbulent energy and colours which resulted from the last warm rays of the Summer as we headed into the Autumn and Winter months. The reassuring slither of cultivated, fertile land appears minimised as it nestles between the wild energy of the late Summer sky and the flaming Autumn reds and browns of the wild surrounding grassland.

It was my attempt to harness the last of Summer's energies to keep me warm and invigorated through the long, cold Scottish winter that lay ahead. It is a work of pure colour inspired by the Scottish Colourists, the Fauves and Joan Eardley who are great influences on my work.
