Life Triptych III
The instability and fragility of our nature and human settlements alike is even more pronounced and observable in the times of changing climate. This series of only three photographs focuses on the microcosmos rather than the macrocosmos by providing short insights into "life" at varying degrees of physical and emotional proximity.

My analogue medium format pictures are taken on roll film from East Germany that I have purchased from a Ukrainian merchant in the recent years. It is quite likely that the spools were exposed to heightened levels of radioactivity due to the Chernobyl catastrophe and certainly started to chemically disintegrate already. Their natural process of decay is presumably altered due to the effects of radiation in a hard to predict manner. The film material I use had already been technologically outdated at its time of production, and I needed to liaise with several laboratories to find one that would be willing and able to work with it today using a slightly experimental setup. My pictures capture (human) life on this rapidly changing planet by means of a camera of the last century on films that travelled through states and systems that ceased to exist. I embrace their imperfections that naturally come when working with "living material" as they emphasise the validity of everyone's subjective and individual perception of our beautiful environment.
