Carnwadrick Cosmos (from the ‘Scheme of Things’ series)
The work is in the form of a banner suspended in a frame structure. It represents a nmemonic abstraction of a sequence of remembered experiences encountered from early childhood. These can be interpreted as encapsulating several sensations that coalesce around and within the form. These sensations are reminiscent of repeated encounters with visual and other sensory experiences that have evolved and into a form of visual representation that interprets common experiences of growing up in a particular environmental, cultural and urban environment. The work is from a series of studies around this concept called “The Scheme of Things“

Medium
The work is a mixed media piece. Consisting of a suspended canvas painted with oils, acrylic and spray paints - within a framework. The canvas depicts the layout of a mapped image of a notional plan of a contrived urban landscape. This is contained within a surrounding framework structure that is covered with the same repeated word ‘as a graffitied entreaty’ -‘Carnwadrick’ repeatedly and in layered patterns around the frame. This gestural design represents the conceptual idea of a social construct which forms barriers between individuals in a stratified environment that adheres to a particular social, cultural, political and economic system that is designed to prevent the individual dynamic development.
