Statement
Lesley Smith: I am a painter and printmaker based in Kirkcudbright. I studied Printed Textiles at Glasgow School of Art and now work primarily in acrylic paint and Lino print. My painted work is characterised by bold colors, playful compositions, and a love of simple shapes and patterns. Incorporating stencils and printed elements, I create vibrant, contemporary still life paintings that celebrate everyday objects. Flowers frequently appear alongside household items—treasured finds from charity shops and thrift stores—imbuing my work with a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and joy. Printmaking in both lino and screen print often feature strong graphics and a sense of fun.
My textiles and illustration work has been featured in many magazines and National newspapers including:Elle Decoration, Country Living,International Textiles Magazine, Drapers Record, Architectural Review, The Independent and The Herald.
