Artist Statement – Joe Smith

I'm a watercolour landscape painter from Paisley.

My style is shaped by a real love for the great Edward Wesson and Edward Seago – I’ve always admired their simplicity and the way they could capture so much with so little. I’m also drawn to the more abstract side of things, especially the work of John and Ann Blockley. Their boldness and freedom with paint encouraged me to loosen up and let the watercolour speak for itself.

I would relish the opportunity to be a part of The Big Art Show here in Paisley – to show my work in the town that’s always been home.
