Statement
Lorraine G McAuley. A Scottish artist based in the Central Belt, I have been painting for many years, beginning my creative journey through the study of interior design before expanding into a wide range of artistic disciplines. As well as painting on canvas, I enjoy painting and drawing wall murals and working on various surfaces and objects.
Working primarily in oils, I am drawn to the interplay of colour, texture, and the organic diversity found in nature. Each piece often begins with a carefully considered colour palette, which acts as a foundation for the evolving composition. My work occupies a space between landscape and abstraction—a fusion where natural forms meet expressive gestures and emotive surfaces.
My aim is to capture not only the visual essence of the world around me but also the emotional resonance it inspires. Through vibrant hues and layered textures, I invite the viewer to experience a sense of place that is both familiar and imagined.
