Statement

My work explores the emotional and spiritual language of colour, texture, and space. As a self-taught abstract artist based in Glasgow, I create large-scale pieces that evoke calm, depth, and connection. Drawing inspiration from both Mediterranean and Scottish landscapes, my art bridges worlds – blending earthy tones, organic movement, and rich layers to invite a sense of harmony into modern living spaces. Each painting is a form of visual journaling, born from deep reflection, lived experience, and an intuitive creative process. I work primarily with acrylics and mixed media, using palette knives, brushes, and layering techniques to build textured, immersive compositions that shift with the light and viewer’s perspective. My pieces have gained recognition through charity auctions, where they have consistently sold for over £650, resonating with audiences emotionally as well as aesthetically. I see my work not only as fine art but also as an extension of interior design – art that transforms a space, grounds energy, and speaks without words. The Big Art Show is an exciting opportunity to share my work in a community-rooted setting, and I’m honoured to contribute to such a dynamic and accessible platform for contemporary art in Scotland.— Amaal Kebabti
