Calum

Statement

My name is Malcolm or Calum in Gaelic. I am part of the An Làntair Gaelic community that meets in Partick.I can produce art over a wide spectrum from abstract, architectural and applied art. I attended Glasgow School of Art (Murals) I have been an art teacher, Countryside Ranger in a National Park and an Activities Organiser in Highland Homes with people who have dementia. Throughout these vocations there has always been a seam of creative work. The Bidean nam Bian was inspired by the name of the mountain which means a stretching of animal skins and reflects cup and ring rock art of Argyll. It is a plan for a wall hanging evoking the pre Christian culture of the Gael. It was created on Skye and this is the first time it has been exhibited and comes from a series large  drawings that  theme.
